About Bethe

My grandmother, Mama, taught me to crochet when I was really young.  Probably around 4 years old.  A few years later she taught me to knit, and I continued playing around with both crafts till Junior High, but not faithfully or with any dedication.  Sometime during the JH years, I abandoned them altogether and didn’t pick up the sticks or the hook again until I quit smoking 6 years ago and I haven’t put them down since!  Since then, I have also added spinning and sewing to my growing list of crafty pursuits.

I’m a child of the 80’s that (still) has an unholy passion for all things neon.  I love the hair bands and my iPod is full of the best (and worst) of the era.  John Travolta was my first true crush (I was 7!) and I fell in love with Rick Springfield when I was in the 7th grade.  Throughout my teenage years, my boyfriends were all prettier than and had better hair than me.  We won’t talk about sharing the lipstick.  Yeesh.

I’m opinionated, stubborn, sometimes loud,  and I’m fiercely loyal to and protective of my friends and family.  I whine, bitch, moan, and complain, but then I get over it pretty quickly.  I love it when I’m right and I love to argue (my parents thought I would be a lawyer, but it never really appealed to me).

I work full time at an office job that I don’t particularly care for, but it pays the bills, and I also own a gift shop in my home town that is run by my mom, who also lives with me.  I teach knitting classes one day a week at my LYS, and on any given Wednesday (and some Saturdays) I can be found with my BAMFKs, my girls/my peeps/my cohorts/my drinking buddies, knitting and laughing up a storm.

I’m a Red Sox Girl through and through.  From April to October I’m obsessed, and from October to February I’m counting down the days till pitchers and catchers report to Ft. Myers for Spring Training.  I try to make it Fenway a few times each season, and Paw Sox games are always fun, too!

I’m a bit of a photo buff and I love to take pictures.  My major in college was journalism/media, with a specialization in photography.   Sadly, it’s all useless information at this point, but I’m looking to change that so I bought some spiffy new equipment last year and I’m relearning photography with a Nikon D40x as my starter camera.

I think my college major makes it pretty obvious, but I used to love writing and I took several creative writing courses and workshops throughout junior high, high school, and college.  Alas, my writing skills have taken a nose dive over the past 15 years or so, but I’ll be working on that!

OK, I’ve rambled enough for now!
